What Set Cheater is
Set Cheater builds lens and cast cheat sheets for film and television camera crews. You pick a lens series, tick the focal lengths you are carrying, and it fills in the widest T-stop, close focus and front diameter for each one from a database of more than 340 lens series. The result prints at true card width, so it can be cut out and taped to a mattebox or camera cart.
It runs in any web browser at app.setcheater.com. Versions for iPhone, iPad and Mac are in development.
What it costs
Free — no account needed. Build sheets from six built-in lens series (Cooke S4/i, Zeiss Ultra Prime, Master Prime and Supreme Prime, ARRI Signature Prime, and the Angénieux Optimo zoom), style them however you like, and export a finished PDF. Free exports carry a small setcheater.com line on the card.
Full version — $10 per year. Adds:
- The full lens database — 340+ series, over 1,300 lenses
- Adding your own lens series and focal lengths
- Cast sheets
- The phone wallpaper and Home Screen widget
- Unlimited saved sheets
- Custom fonts and title graphics
- Exports with no watermark
There is no free trial, because the free version is not time-limited — it stays free for as long as you want to use it.
Subscriptions
A subscription costs $10.00 USD per year and renews automatically each year until you cancel. Payment is taken at sign-up and on each renewal.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Set Cheater never sees or stores your card details.
Cancelling
Cancel any time from Account → Manage subscription inside the app, which opens Stripe's billing portal. You can also email admin@setcheater.com and we will cancel it for you.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your full access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for — you are not cut off the moment you cancel. After that the account returns to the free version. Nothing you have made is deleted: your saved sheets stay on your device.
Refunds
Email admin@setcheater.com.
- Within 14 days of a charge, we refund it in full, no questions asked. - After 14 days, get in touch anyway. If the app did not do what this page says it does, we will sort it out.
Refunds go back to the card that was charged and usually appear within five to ten working days, depending on your bank.
The lens data
Specifications are compiled from publicly published manufacturer spec sheets and rental-house catalogues. They are provided for reference and convenience.
Always trust the lens in front of you over any database, including this one. Glass gets rehoused, serviced and modified, and a specific copy of a lens may not match its published figures. Set Cheater is a tool for preparing paperwork, not a substitute for checking the equipment.
Lens series and manufacturer names are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only to identify the equipment described.
Accounts
You need an account only for the paid version. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself. Accounts are for one person; sharing a login across a crew is not what the pricing is built for.
We may suspend an account that is being used to redistribute the lens database.
Availability
Set Cheater is offered as-is. We aim to keep it running and correct, but we cannot promise it will be available without interruption, and we are not liable for losses arising from its use — including a sheet that turned out to be wrong. Your remedy if it does not work is a refund, as above.
Changes
If these terms change materially, subscribers will be emailed before the change takes effect at their next renewal. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
