Privacy Policy

Set Cheater is a tool for building lens and cast cheat sheets. It is not an advertising business and it does not have a data business. This policy explains what the app touches and what it doesn't.

What Stays On Your Device

Everything you build lives on the device you built it on. That includes:

• Saved lens sheets and cast sheets, including titles, title graphics, cast names and characters
• Folders, label sets and saved colors
• Your color, font, border and layout preferences
• Custom lens series and individual lenses you've added yourself
• Favorite series, filter settings and your light/dark appearance choice
• The pictures you choose for a lock screen wallpaper

None of it is uploaded to a server belonging to Set Cheater, and none of it is visible to anyone else, unless you choose to share a sheet (see Sharing A Sheet below). This stays true once you have an account. Signing in tells the app what you've paid for. It does not send your sheets anywhere.

On the iPhone and Mac, your work also syncs between your own devices through your own iCloud (see iCloud below). Deleting the app doesn't remove it from your iCloud.

iCloud

On the iPhone and Mac apps, if you're signed in to iCloud, your work follows you between your own devices: saved lens and cast sheets with their title graphics, folders, label sets and label settings, custom lenses, front diameters you've measured, lenses you've renamed or added to a series, favorites, saved colors and their names, and the pictures on a lock screen wallpaper.

It is kept in your own private iCloud database, which Apple holds for your Apple Account under Apple's privacy policy. It is stored encrypted, it does not pass through any server belonging to Set Cheater, Set Cheater's developer can't read it, and it is never shared with other users. It counts toward your iCloud storage.

It stays in your iCloud until you delete it, even if you delete the app or your Set Cheater account, because it is in your Apple Account, not ours. To delete it, choose Delete iCloud Data in the app's menu (☰), or delete Set Cheater's data in your iCloud storage settings (on an iPhone, Settings, then your name, then iCloud). The sheets on your devices stay.

Syncing is not available in the web app, because a web page cannot reach iCloud. There, everything stays in your browser unless you share a sheet.

Sharing A Sheet

If you choose to share a sheet, the app makes a copy of it and stores that copy on Set Cheater's database (run by Google Firebase) under a random ten-character code. The copy holds what the sheet holds: its title, which lenses are on it, any serial numbers you typed, its colors and layout, any lens series you built yourself, lens names or front diameters you entered for the lenses on it, and the title graphic if you added one. For a cast sheet, the cast names, characters and stand-ins you entered. If the sheet has a lock screen wallpaper, a copy of its pictures goes with it, described below.

Anyone who has the code can open that copy, so treat the code like a link to a shared document. The copy is linked to the account that shared it, which is what lets you take it back: the app lists the sheets you have shared, and revoking one deletes the copy immediately. Otherwise the code stops working thirty days after it was made, and the copy is deleted, usually within a day. Opening a sheet someone shared with you does not require an account and sends nothing about you to the server.

If a shared sheet is reported through the app, the report, the code and the reason given, is stored so it can be looked at. Nothing identifying the reporter is kept.

Pictures For A Lock Screen Wallpaper

A lock screen wallpaper can use two pictures you choose yourself: a background photo and a logo. They are kept on your device and, on the iPhone and Mac, sync through your iCloud like the rest of your work. Pictures that arrive on a shared sheet you open are kept the same way.

They are uploaded to Set Cheater's file storage (run by Google Firebase) only when you share a sheet that uses them. A copy is then stored beside the shared copy of the sheet, so it opens looking the way you built it. Anyone who has the code can see those pictures, the same as the rest of the sheet, and the shared copy carries an unguessable link that fetches them, so the link deserves the same care the code does. Revoking the share deletes the pictures with it. Otherwise they are deleted forty-five days after they were uploaded. The pictures are not looked at, published or used for anything else.

Earlier versions of the app also kept a copy of your wallpaper pictures in a folder belonging to your account. Nobody else is given access to it, and deleting your account deletes it.

The Lens Database

The built-in lens database is delivered to the app read-only. Fetching it does not involve sending your sheets, your identity, or anything you've typed.

Your Account

Set Cheater uses Firebase Authentication, run by Google, to handle sign-up, sign-in and password resets. If you sign up with an email address, it holds that address and a password you never send us in readable form. Password checking and resets happen inside Firebase, and the developer cannot read your password. If you sign in with Apple or Google, there is no password: it holds the email address Apple or Google shares, and it can also hold the name on that account.

Alongside it, one record per account stores whether you currently have full access: whether a subscription is active and when the paid period ends. It also holds a reference number that links your account to your customer record at the payment company, so a renewal a year from now can find you. That record is written by the payment systems, never by the app on your device.

To delete your account, open your account from the app's menu (☰) and choose Delete Account. That deletes the account and its record, cancels any subscription, and deletes the sheets you've shared, with their pictures. If you signed in with Apple, it also disconnects Set Cheater from your Apple Account, after Apple asks you to confirm. If that step can't be done, you can remove Set Cheater yourself in your Apple Account's Sign in with Apple settings. Your work on your devices and in your iCloud stays. iCloud above says how to delete that.

Paying For It

Subscriptions bought on the web are handled by Stripe, and subscriptions bought inside the iPhone or iPad app are handled by Apple. Your card number goes to whichever of those you paid through. It never reaches Set Cheater's developer, and it is not stored on your device or in the app's database. All the app is ever told is whether your access is currently active and when it runs out.

If you were given free access as a beta tester, that grant is recorded against your email address so it's waiting for you when you sign up.

Where Your Data Is Kept

What Set Cheater keeps online, your account and the sheets you share, with their pictures, is stored by Google in the United States. If you use the app from the European Union, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, your data is transferred there. Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions, and its data processing terms include the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Those are what make the transfer lawful. iCloud sync goes through Apple, under Apple's terms.

The data is used only to provide the service you signed up for, which is the legal basis for holding it. Wherever you live, you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or have it deleted by writing to the address under Contact, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.

Analytics And Advertising

Set Cheater contains no third-party analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking identifiers. It does not build a profile of you and there is nothing to opt out of.

Photos And Files

Exporting a sheet as a PDF or an image uses the system share sheet and, if you choose to save a wallpaper, writes that one image to your photo library. The app requests access to your photo library only at the moment you ask it to save something, and it never looks through your library: the only picture it reads is the one you pick. Title graphics and a wallpaper's background photo and logo are read from the file you pick, kept on your device and, on the iPhone and Mac, synced through your iCloud, as described above.

The serial number scanner reads the camera on your device. The picture is never saved or sent anywhere.

This Website

If you enter your email address on the launch-notification form, it is stored solely to send you one message when the app is released. It is not sold, rented or added to any other list. Ask and it will be deleted.

Children

Set Cheater is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
